The course will provide an overview of key building and design features that effect overall building performance. The course focuses on the Building as a System and examines both design techniques and building construction practices that support green building. Site consideration and environmental impacts of the construction processes are included. An overview of green building certification programs is included, but not limited to, USGBC – LEED, NAHBA Green Building Standards, DOE/EPA Energy Star. The course also supports Green Advantage® – Commercial Certification.
The Sessions are organized as follows:
Session 1: Laying the Ground Work Introductions, The Big Picture of Sustainability, First Cost v. Life Cycle, Overview and Impact of the LEED rating System upon the Construction Industry; Construction Operations includes LEED workbook, Construction Waste Management and much more.
Session 2: Building a Green Project Site, Structure, Walls, Windows, Roofs, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, LEED Documentation
Session 3: Finishing the Project Interior Finishes, Equipment, Landscaping, Project/LEED Closeout, Course Review - prep for test
