RK Stewart, Chair

RK is a leader in project management, project delivery, building performance, and design education. His 39 years of experience include work with Gensler, Perkins+Will, SOM, and teaching architecture at University of Utah, Mississippi State, and Louisiana State Universities. As AIA’s national President, he advocated for sustainable design practices and Integrated Project Delivery in 2007, the year of AIA’s 150th anniversary. Working to evolve design education he participates as a Visiting Team Member and Team Chair for the National Architectural Accrediting Board. In 2013, he completed his term as Board Chair of the National Institute of Building Sciences but has continued his support of the nation’s livable communities. Mr. Stewart’s contributions have been recognized with his investiture in the AIA’s College of Fellows, named a Senior Fellow of the Design Futures Council and a Senior Fellow of the New Building Institute. He is an architectural graduate of the Universities of Kansas and Michigan, and holds the following distinctions and credentials – Honorary FRAIC, Honorary JIA, Honorary AIA, LEED AP BD+C.
