James Scott Brew, FCSI, AIA, LEED AP is President and Chief Building Scientist at World SOLutions. He has over three decades of sustainable design experience in historic, commercial, institutional, and residential architecture. James is a frequent speaker at regional, national, and international conferences on many aspects of sustainable design issues–leading us toward regenerative buildings and communities. He has been a presenter at TEDx Boulder, USGBC’s Greenbuild conference, the Healthcare Summit on Sustainability, and the World Conference on Sustainability in Canada, Norway, and Japan. As a regular contributor for broadcast and print media, James provides insight on topics of energy, healthy building design, and sustainable communities. Mr. Brew has led the LEED certification process and served as a facilitator and advisor on many projects and building types in the US, Asia, Australia, and Europe. James is a Fellow of the Construction Specifications Institute (FCSI), a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), a graduate of Lake Superior College, and the extended degree program at the University of Wisconsin Superior. He completed his internship under the late University of Illinois professor of architecture, Marvin R. Dobberman. Before joining Rocky Mountain Institute, James spent 18 years as a principal owner, vice-president, and leader of sustainable design, growing his own Minnesota-based architecture and engineering firm from a small, single-focused firm, to nearly 200 people on 7 client-focused teams.
