James is the Undergraduate Program Director and Charles R. Perry Lecturer at the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Building Construction at the University of Florida. Dr. Sullivan’s research includes sustainable high-performance design and construction of the built environment, labor productivity, and construction and demolition waste management. Dr. Sullivan has received several teaching and service honors including the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) National Excellence Teaching Award (2011), ASC Regional Excellence Teaching Award (2011), the College of Design, Construction and Planning Teacher of the Year Award (2010-2011), and the College of Design, Construction and Planning Outstanding Service Award (2010-2011, 2013-2014). He also serves as the National Co-chair of the ASC Education Committee and on several advisory boards relating to worker training and education. Dr. Sullivan has also completed extensive outreach teaching with the UF Treeo Center regarding Green Design and Construction.
