Maruja Torres-Antonini, PhD, WELL-AP, holds an architecture degree from Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas; an M.Arch. from the University of California at Berkeley; and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Design, Construction, and Planning from the University of Florida, conducted under a Fulbright Fellowship. A published scholar and award-winning educator, she has taught in architecture, interior design and sustainability programs in nationally ranked programs at Iowa State University, the University of North Carolina, the University of Florida, as well as in Venezuela.
Maruja has a comprehensive background as reflected in her teaching, research and external activities. Her current focus of interest encompasses sustainable design and construction practices; design and sustainability education; and educational standards compliance. Currently she develops instructional material for Stellar Performance, LLC. She also serves on the Green Advantage International Standards Certification Board, where she also contributes to developing standards for their suite of construction personnel certifications.
